Attempted murder suspects sentenced to life in jail

Advocate General and Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution, Ahmed Al Hammadi, today announced that the High Criminal Court had sentenced two individuals to life in prison for attempted murder. The defendants were also found guilty of carrying out explosions and possessing explosive materials.

Advocate General Al Hammadi said that evidence presented to court indicated that on 3 May 2014, the individuals planted two explosive devices on a public road with the intention of killing police officers.

The prosecution evidence presented to court followed extensive investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Public Prosecution, and contained forensic evidence reports and testimonies from a number of witnesses.

The Advocate General confirmed that the defendants had been afforded full legal rights throughout the trial, as guaranteed by Bahraini law, and have the right to appeal the High Criminal Court’s judgment.
