EWA clarifies on security deposits
Manama: The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has revealed that the security deposit collected for electricity and water accounts is based on consumption and the load (one and three phase).
EWA clarified that any Bahraini who stays free in a house owned by his blood relative is not required to pay the deposit.
However, if a Bahraini rents a property, he has to pay the regular deposit according to the rules. All expatriates have to pay the deposit when they rent a property.
The deposit is meant for insurance in the case of
any pending dues and charges after the tenant vacates the rented property and the balance, if any, is refunded.
