BIC hosts National Racing Festival
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir hosts an action-packed National Racing Festival today and tomorrow with the future event being the sixth and final round of the 2015/2016 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East along with the sixth round of the 2015/2016 BIC 2,000cc Challenge, the third round of the 2016 Bahrain Super Bike Championship (BSBK), and the first round of the 2016 Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600.
In the BIC 2,000cc Challenge, former champion Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa paces the title hopefuls heading into the weekend’s events.
Shaikh Salman (Honda CIVIC, 194 points) leads with only two rounds remaining after this upcoming meeting. Alex Longden (BMW 3 Series/F20C, 143) is a distant second and Hussain Karimi (Honda CRX, 131) is third.
In the BSBK, Qatar’s Mishal Alneaimi (100) has established himself as the man to beat early on its inaugural season. He has won all four races held so far at BIC followed in second by Briton Wesley Pearce (70) while Qatari Fahad Alsuwaidi (56) is third all BSBK participants ride identical Ducati 899 Panigale super bikes.
The BMR 600 will be holding its season-opening event. This is a one-make series, where competitors battle it out in Honda Hornet 600cc bikes.
Action on both days is from 9am to 5pm.
