Attempt to traffic woman thwarted
Manama : Saudi Customs on King Fahd Causeway have foiled an attempt to traffic a woman from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi authorities, the “foreign woman” was found hidden in the rear of a private vehicle (SUV).
Commenting on the incident, Saudi Customs General Director Dhaifallah Al Otaibi said, “The woman was found hidden behind the third row seats of the vehicle.”
“She was covered by the original floor mat of the car to evade the Customs inspector,” said Al Otaibi.
He also confirmed that this is the second similar attempt to smuggle a woman from Bahrain through King Fahd Causeway in the past two months.
On the occasion, Al Otaibi also lauded Customs officers at all exit and entry points of the Kingdom for foiling such human-trafficking crimes.
DT News reported in January that the Saudi authorities foiled a similar trafficking attempt.
In a similar fashion, a woman was hidden under the floor mat of the backseat of a Saudi-registered car.
The cases were referred to the concerned security departments.
