HRH Princess Sabeeka to honour female entrepreneurs

Manama : An awarding ceremony of the Bahraini Female Entrepreneur Honour Seal will be held on Tuesday at the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) headquarters.

The honouring ceremony will be held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).

The SCW launched the second edition of the award on October 13, 2014, at the Bahraini Women Development Centre (Riyadat). 28 female entrepreneurs are participating in the award with 26 projects.

The Honour seal aims to honour outstanding females in the entrepreneur field, and encourage them in order to promote the spirit of initiative and creativity, as well as to enhance women’s economic empowering so as to achieve the national women's empowerment programme and shed light on Bahrain’s new investment and economic sectors.

According to the criteria of the award, eligible participants be should less than 45 years old and have a minimum three-year experience as entrepreneurs. Their projects should meet a number of requirements, such as sustainability, ensuring equal opportunities, commitment to communal partnership and ability to go beyond the local market.

The initiative was launched by HRH Princess Sabeeka in the 10th anniversary of SCW and Bahraini Woman's Day celebration in December 2011.

HRH Princess Sabeeka honoured the winners of the first edition of the Bahraini Female Entrepreneur Honour Seal in March, 2013. They were Suhair Al Rayes, executive director and owner of Larisa Shops, Dr Lamiyaa Mahmoud Al Rayes, chief executive of Dr Lamiyaa Mahmoud Specialist Laser Dental Care Centre, lawyer Mai Shwaiter, the administrative partner of Trust Partners Company for Advocates and Legal Consultants, Shaikha Noorah bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, chairperson of the board of directors of Midpoint Company, and Halal Engineer, director general of Environment Arabia for Advisory Services.
