MP Al-Hayki to participate in fellowship programme

Chairperson of Woman and Child Committee in Parliament, MP Roua Al Hayki, will participate in John Smith Trust Fellowship Programme starting tomorrow in the United Kingdom.

The British Council Bahrain in collaboration with St Andrews University has chosen her to participate in the British Fellowship Programme for Leadership Development and the rule of law. The programme will begin in Scotland, and will continue throughout the month in Oxford, and later in London.

It will include multiple visits to the best and most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, such as St. Andrews University and the University of Oxford to attend lectures and workshops on rule of law issues and the preparation of future leaders.

She will also hold meetings in London with members of the British government and the judiciary, parliamentarians, ambassadors, academics and other experts.

Commenting that Bahrain believe in the importance of preparing future leaders, Al Hayki said that Bahrain was one of the most advanced countries in promoting the development and creation of future leaders by encouraging international partnerships in this area. 

“National Charter of HM King Hamad facilitates the ground for appropriate competencies of youth to evolve and innovate to reach the highest levels,” she said.

She said Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and his strategies reflected his care to support potential leaders.

One of the main objectives of the programme is to highlight the aspiring leaders of the Arab Gulf states, and to support and train them. The leaders will be trained on how to meet the challenges facing governments by taking advantage of the diverse expertise and experience of senior leaders.
