Saudi Ambassador denies nationals being beaten up
Manama: The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has commented on the recent incident of two Saudi men being beaten up in Bahrain, with Ambassador Abdulla Al Shaikh denying that any Saudi national was beaten up by Asian men in Manama.
“What’s being circulated has happened on January 18 and no Saudi national have been proved to be involved in the incident as per the information provided by the Bahraini Interior Ministry,” he said.
The Ambassador claimed in the statements given to Saudi press that “the Bahraini Interior Ministry has interfered to break up a fight between security guards of a hotel in Manama and Saudi nationals.”
But, as per a report published by Saudi daily Al Riyadh, the Ambassador confirmed that no Saudi nationals were injured in the incident, adding that “Saudi nationals’ affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain is under the observation of the embassy.” His statements came after a video clip went viral online, showing two Gulf nationals, claimed to be Saudis, being badly beaten up by Asian men in a private establishment’s uniform.”
DT News reported yesterday that the victims were confirmed to be Saudi nationals by eyewitnesses.
Sources said the incident happened on January 17, when two drunk Saudi nationals walked into a men’s spa and apparently created chaos, forcing the staff there (Thai) to kick them out of the shop and brutally beat them up in the middle of the road in Qudaibiya.
The three attackers were arrested on Saturday afternoon, seven weeks after the incident took place, but a few hours after the video of the incident was spread online.
The men attacked the two Saudi nationals, cruelly kicking one of them in the face in a professional martial-arts style and leaving him lying motionless on the road, making onlookers believe that he was instantly killed.
However, it was confirmed to DT News that no deaths were reported and none of the victims reported the case to the police or went to the Kingdom’s hospitals for treatment.
