Human trafficking victim to testify against captors
An Asian maid forced into prostitution by two Asian men, will testify against the duo in court on April 3.
The move comes after the court decided to summon her in order to give evidence in the pair’s next court hearing.
The duo allegedly bought the victim from a man who held her captive after she ran away from her sponsor. She was locked up in an apartment that was used as a den by the duo.
She was finally rescued after a civilian gave a tip-off to the police about the den. When the police arrived, they found the door of the apartment locked from outside. However, when they knocked the door, the woman screamed for help.
She was rescued, while sexual tools were recovered from the place.
“I decided to flee from my sponsor’s house, and go to the human resource company that brought me to Bahrain. A man offered to transport me, but he took me to an apartment and sold me to them (the defendants),” the victim said.
“They locked me inside an apartment and allowed strangers to have sex with me in return of money,” she added.
