Bahraini man jailed attacking police officer
Manama: The High Criminal Court has handed down a Bahraini man, aged 23, three years behind the bars for attacking an on-duty police officer.
The defendant reportedly twisted the hand of the police officer and bit it while trying to flee from the police station.
According to the court documents, the accused was summoned up to the station on account of a traffic violation he had committed.
He tried to run away by his car from the station, but the victim pursued him.
“I tried to pull him out of his car, but he held my hand and twisted. Then he bit me,” the victim told prosecutors.
It was discovered only later that the defendant did not have a driving licence and that the car he was driving was not insured.
