Crown Prince committee to probe delayed projects
In yesterday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa tasked the Executive Committee, chaired by Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to probe the delays pertaining to King Hamad University Hospital, the waste recycling project and the infrastructure projects of the telecommunications sector.
The committee will submit a detailed report on the delays to the Cabinet.
The Premier praised the directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and instructed ministers to intensify visits to villages and to follow up on the needs of the citizens there. Ministers were also directed to inspect service projects in the villages and meet community leaders and dignitaries to identify the villagers’ needs, Cabinet Secretary General Dr. Dr. Yasser bin Essa Al Naser said in a statement following the session.
The Prime Minister then directed the Housing Ministry to study the possibility of establishing a housing project that serves the citizens of Halat Al Abd Al Saleh and the neighbouring regions, and provide an appropriate area for the project.
Prince Khalifa issued directives to intensify efforts to create new job opportunities with high professional and scientific levels for the citizens.
The Premier called for holding more specialised career expos to increase the chances of job-seekers and provide opportunities for employers to meet their needs.
The Cabinet approved the re-organisation of the administrative and technical structure of the Future Generations Fund, by upgrading two departments to the level of directorate, namely the Financial Operations and the Investment.
The session approved the government’s replies to two proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives as recommended by the Ministerial Committee on Legal Affairs. They included the demolition and re-building of the Zain Al Abideen and Al A’Ali mosques in Manama, and streamlining procedures in ministries and government departments.
International affairs
The session endorsed a draft law on ratifying the agreement on Transfer of Persons Sentenced to Deprivation of Liberty, signed between Bahrain and Russia on December 15, 2015, and referred it to the Legislative Branch.
The Cabinet also endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bahrain and France on the objectives and functions of the Alliance Française (AF) in Bahrain, and approved the registration of the AF Institute.
