Foreign Minister takes part in Islamic Summit in Indonesia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa took part in the fifth extraordinary session of the Islamic Summit on the State of Palestinian and Al Quds, which is being held in Jakarta, Indonesia, under the theme “United for a Just and Permanent Solution”.

The minister thanked Indonesia’s President, government and people for hosting the summit, praising the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Dr Iyad Ameen Madani.

Shaikh Khalid affirmed that Palestine has all the elements of a state, of a Government and people as well as well-defined land, despite the attempts to distort the facts.

He noted that, what is happening in Al Quds, from the drilling operations to the displacement of the Palestinians from their homes, was sufficient to demonstrate the measures by the Israeli occupation authorities in their approach to empty Al Quds of the Palestinian people.

He reiterated Bahrain’s deep concern over the critical situation in the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of the long-standing Israeli military occupation and illegal practices.

He also stressed the special sanctity of Al Quds to the followers of the three monotheistic religions and its great significance for all Muslims.

A declaration issued by the fifth extraordinary Islamic Summit stressed the importance of the issue of  Palestine as the central cause of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It also called for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Arab and Palestinian territories, including Al Quds, which is a constant demand of the Islamic Nation.
