Bahrain court cuts cop's jail term
A police officer accused on grounds of mistreating an inmate had his jail time reduced on appeal.
He was earlier handed down two years in prison, but his jail time was commuted to three months instead.
The attack of the police officer on the victim occurred at the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre.
Among the evidence used against the defendant was a video tape showing him assaulting the inmate.
A medical report indicated that the victim suffered various injuries on the account of the incident.
The High Criminal Appeals Court said in its ruling that it decided to commute the sentence of the defendant given the ‘circumstances’ surrounding the attack.
