Energy Minister opens GEO 2016

Petroleum industry professionals and geoscientists from over 50 countries converged at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre yesterday for the opening of the 12th Middle East Geosciences Conference and Exhibition
(GEO 2016).

The opening ceremony of the three-day conference kicked off with a ministerial address by Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussian
Mirza.

An associated exhibition featuring oil and gas exploration products will open today in a ceremony held under the patronage of Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

More than 200 technical presentations and 120 poster presentations designed to share the knowledge and experiences of companies in various fields will take place during the conference.

Topics include human resources, advances in technologies, petrophysics, geological studies and hydrocarbon exploration in addition to special
sessions.

The event assembles a panel of high ranking industry experts including Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Energy, United Arab Emirates, Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman, IHS. The  event theme is ‘Today’s Geoscience, Tomorrow’s Energy.’
