GEO 2016 opened
Manama : His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has deputised Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to open the 12th Middle East Geosciences Conference and Exhibition (GEO 2016), held today at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre with the participation of 130 world companies from 20 countries.
Energy Minister Dr. Abul Hussain bin Ai Mirza, senior state officials and executive officials from companies specialised in geology, geophysics, exploration and production from all over the world were present.
The deputy premier extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his constant keenness on patronising GEO ever since it started in 1994, which has entitled it to be among the most prominent world events for geosciences, geophysics and exploration and production technology, lauding the Premier's directives and follow-up.
Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa conveyed greetings from HRH the Prime Minister to the participants, and his wishes that the event would contribute to developing the oil and gas industry further, given its increasing importance to the global economy.
He affirmed the importance of the Middle East Geosciences Conference, being a platform to present the latest technology in the fields of oil exploration, geosciences and other fields related to the oil and gas sector.
He stressed that Bahrain has made remarkable and advanced strides in oil and gas sector, which is among the main economic sectors that represent the driving engine of the national economy, thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, backing of HRH Premier and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Economic Development Board.
The deputy premier praised remarkable participation GEO 2016, being an international event that reflects Bahrain's success in attracting and hosting mega global events thanks to its increasing interest in boosting the conferences and exhibitions industry as a means to diversify and increase revenues.
He lauded GEO for being a prestigious global platform in the field of geosciences, hailing the increasing number of specialised participants in it.
GEO is an international gathering to exchange views and share expertise in the oil industry and present the latest technology in this regard, he said.
