MP urges Govt to improve poor services at bus stations
An MP yesterday demanded the Government to provide bus stops in the Kingdom with Internet, air-conditioning and heating systems in a bid to “improve the poor services provided at bus stations across the country.”
The proposal was recently submitted to Parliament Chairman Ahmed Al Mulla by the Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Chairman Abdulla Binhowail.
MP Binhowail justified his proposal, stating, “It’s necessary to provide these facilities with air-conditioning and heating systems, considering the high temperatures recorded in Bahrain during the summer season, sometimes exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, in addition to the low temperatures throughout the winter.”
“Since Transportation and Telecommunication Ministry is providing citizens with transportation services, the Ministry should enhance its services at these facilities, especially in regards to providing comfortable and safe waiting points (stations),” he said. He also called for providing free Internet services at the stations.
The proposal will be referred to the concerned parliamentary committee for studying, before the report could be presented before the council for voting.
