Minister honours female guards for their bravery
Two female public school guards, who were attacked on Monday morning, resumed their duties yesterday after recovering from their injuries, it has been confirmed.
This was announced during a visit conducted by Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi to Riffa Primary Girls’ School in the Southern Governorate yesterday to check on the injured guards.
“The Minister honoured the guards and thanked their devotion in guarding the school,” said a statement issued by Education Ministry yesterday.
The statement added that “the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s keenness on the protection of students and schools’ staff members.”
DT News reported yesterday that a woman attacked two female guards at Riffa Primary Girls’ School when they prevented her from entering the school.
The woman, who was not a staff or a parent as confirmed by the Education Ministry, tried to stab the guards who stopped her at the gates of the school an hour before the school day began.
The police detained her after the school authorities informed them about the incident. Eyewitnesses said that at least four policemen were seen at the spot.
“We saw 4 to 6 policewomen taking a woman in Abaya (women’s traditional black veil) into their vehicle at around 6am. We didn’t exactly know what was going on, but we saw the police taking pictures and filming the area,”
No further information was available about the attacker.
