Court to deliver ruling in abduction case on April 4
Manama: Court ruling will be delivered on April 4 in the trial of three persons accused of kidnapping two fellow countrymen.
The trio, aged 27,29 and 40, abducted the duo following a dispute on a drug trade deal, according to court files.
One of the victims reportedly pocketed BD2200 paid by one of the defendants, who wanted to buy a large quantity of hashish.
The former allegedly delayed handing the drugs to him, prompting the trio to abduct him, along with a friend, who was at that time with him.
The victims were kept in a stable in Sanad for a night, where they were reportedly put along with a surly dog.
“They told me if I want to go home I have to contact one of my relatives and make arrangements to return the money,” the victim involved in the drug deal told prosecutors.
“I contacted my brother, and they asked him to meet them near Sitra Mall to hand over the money,” he added.
The brother reported the incident to the police, who planned an ambush to arrest the captors while handing over the money.
However, it’s said the trio didn’t show up because ‘they felt’ they were being surveyed by police.
They were eventually nabbed after they released the victims from their captive.
The victims then informed police about their whereabouts, according to court files.
