Mohanlal arrives in Bahrain to lead “Uthsav 2016”
Manama : Thousands of fans are expected to attend “Uthsav 2016,” a stage show led by Indian actor and cultural icon Mohanlal today at the Indian School ground in Isa Town, the organisers said.
“Ardent fans from Bahrain and other GCC countries will flock to the school ground, which will see tight security measures with the whole venue under CCTV surveillance,” Event Chief Organiser Muraleedharan Palliyath told DT News.
In a career spanning over three decades, Mohanlal was elected as the most popular Keralite in an online poll conducted by CNN-IBN in 2006 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kerala’s formation. Mohanlal arrived in Bahrain this morning after a hiatus of six years. With a legion of fan following in the Indian State of Kerala, actor Mohanlal also holds a matinee idol status in the popular culture of Kerala.
In 2001, the Government of India conferred him with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, for his contributions to Indian Cinema. Commenting on the event, Union Group of Companies Managing Director Yasser Al Kuwari said when the GCC countries were facing financial crises, entertainment events like Uthsav 2016 would energise the economy and create a positive impact in society. Mohanlal Fans Online Unit coordinators Faisal FM and Jagath Krishna Kumar said their members are working hard to make the event a grand success, with all units in Bahrain engaged in widespread campaign for the stage show.
BigFace Events Company WLL, an innovative venture under Strategic Publicity and Advertising Co.WLL (SPAC) is organising “Uthsav 2016.”
The other artistes participating in mega show arrived here yesterday. Uthsav 2016 is directed by Indian director Nadirshah and it features South Indian actress Shamna Kasim, playback singers Madhu Balakrishnan and Rimi Tomy, musician Stephen Devassy and television anchor Ranjini Haridas.
