Booming tourism sector top priority : Al Zayani

Manama : Underlining the importance of tourism sector in the national economy, Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani said that developing the tourism sector is one of the priorities in the government’s programme.

Terming it as a rapidly growing sector, Al Zayani remarked: “We do our duty to reassure investors, whether Bahrainis or foreigners, by providing suitable environment for tourism projects. The tourism sector is an emerging sector and we provide facilities to motivate investors.” 

In the framework of International Tourism Bourse (ITB), the Minister was addressing the roundtable session held in Berlin, Germany. Secretary General of UNWTO Taleb Rifai and a number of Tourism Ministers were also present on the occasion.

Al Zayani added that a strategy based on four main components (marketing and promotion, programmes and tourist destinations, arrival and entry, and residence) are vital  to boost the  tourist identity of the Kingdom.

The roundtable discussed  “Tourism in the 21st Century: New Business Models in a Digital World,” at the event. Opportunities of digitalisation for developing tourism and travel sectors were also broached.
