Bahraini jailed for 15 years in drug case
Manama : The High Criminal Court has slapped a man with 15 years in prison after he was caught with 79 kilograms of hashish in his house.
The defendant was said to have been peddling the illicit drugs in his possession as well as consuming it, according to the court documents.
He was arrested in a sting operation while trying to sell four kilograms of hashish to an undercover police officer, who offered to buy the aforementioned portion for BD9,200.
The Bahraini man reportedly tried to flee in his car, slamming it against several police patrols, who were close on his heels to nab him.
He eventually tried to run away, but police arrested him while he was attempting to climb a fence.
“I work in a restaurant owned by my brother. But I got engaged in peddling drugs. I was importing it from outside Bahrain,” he told prosecutors.
