HM the King, UAE vice-president attend endurance race
Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum attended here today the first GCC Endurance Championship.
Upon arrival, HM King Hamad and Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid were welcomed by the Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, HM the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and the Honorary President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as BREEF President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani was also present.
Shaikh Nasser briefed HM the King and Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the stages of the 120-kolometre race and the riders competing in it.
HM King Hamad and UAE Vice-President met riders and exchanged with them cordial talks on the championship aiming to foster fraternal GCC ties, lauding the landmark achievements of GCC riders in all championships.
HM the King and the kingdom’s distinguished guest watched the race.
UAE’s Shaikh Hamad bin Dalmuok Al-Maktoum, Saif Al Mazrooei and Said bin Khalifa Al-Mahri clinched the first three places during the race, respectively.
HM King Hamad congratulated the winners of the first three places, and expressed sincere thanks to Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid for attending the championship and encouraging endurance races.
HM the King voiced pride in the kingdom’s hosting of championships that bring together GCC youth, praising the achievements of Bahraini and GCC riders in regional, Arab and international sports competitions.
HM the King also paid tribute to Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad for his constant support to the endurance sport, Bahraini riders and BREEF.
Then, Shaikh Nasser, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani and Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid crowned the winners of the first GCC Endurance Championship.
The UAE team won the first place, while the Bahraini team was second.
