Bahrain Information minister opens Radio, Television Production Bazaar

Manama : Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi opened here today, in the presence of HM the King's Media Advisor Nabil bin Yaqoob Al-Hamar and the Director-General of the Gulf Radio and Television Corporation (GRTC) Dr. Abdulla bin Said Abu Ras, the Radio and Television Production Bazaar.

The event is held on the sidelines of the 14th edition of the Gulf Radio and TV Festival, themed "One Media Vision".

The minister and senior GRTC officials toured the bazaar, and were informed about the pavilions of the participating GCC, Arab and GRTC member corporations.

The Information Affairs Minister called for the need to preserve GCC identity and document GCC civilisational achievements, stressing that the big number of satellite channels requires launching more production companies.

GCC identity is a source of pride and glory, and has to be documented, and the production companies have to adopt this approach, he said.

Al-Rumaihi expressed delight at the presence of 600 media persons and participation of more than 300 programmes in this year's edition, which, he said, are indicators of eth success of the event.

He thanked GRTC officials, members of the GCC permanent committees and the Information Affairs Ministry for their successful organisation of the festival.

The minister emphasised his support to all efforts aimed at enhancing joint GCC action.

The bazaar includes 30 pavilions, and will run throughout the four days of the festival.
