5 teenagers undertrial for torturing boy

Manama: The High Criminal Court will hear the case of five teenagers kidnapping and torturing a young boy on April 3.

The defendants aged between 15 and 17, reportedly attacked the boy after accusing him of being a police informer, according to the court documents.

The teenagers are said to have sexually assaulted him after they locked him up on a farm in Sanabis. The boy told prosecutors that the defendants dragged him into a pick-up vehicle and abducted him.

He stated that his captors were masked during the incident, adding that he was beaten up in order to extract confessions on dealing with police officers.

The defendants allegedly also stole his mobile phone and they later released him in a nearby area.

The first defendant admitted to his involvement in the event, but he said that he abandoned the area after he attacked him. The defendants have been charged with attacking a teenager, threatening him and stealing the cellphone from him under torture and abduction.
