Vandalism reports on the rise in Bahrain
Manama: A noticeable increase in acts of vandalism has been reported during the past 48 hours.
Many roads were blocked in different parts of the Kingdom using burning tyres and other obstacles.
Several clashes between masked vandals and security forces were also reported in Aali, Karzakkan, Karranah and other villages that were mainly located in the Northern and Capital Governorates.
Tear gas was used to disperse the masked individuals and security presence has been beefed up in some areas.
On the other hand, the Education Ministry stated that as many as five public educational institutions were targeted in different areas of the Kingdom during the same period.
“Roads leading to Umm Al Qura Elementary and Intermediate Girls’ School in Nuwaidrat village were also blocked by using concrete blocks and waste bags, while Sitra Education Resources Centre was attacked,” the Ministry said in a statement.
“The Ministry condemns the terrorist acts that come within desperate attempts to deprive children of their rights of education and are aiming to scare parents away by blocking roads leading to educational institutions using barbed wires, concrete blocks and other objects. This raises the violence cases against educational establishments to 490 recently,” the statement added.
