Batelco Drag965 vroom to title

Manama: Batelco Drag965 Racing powered to victory in the third and final round of the 2015/2016 Bahrain SWS Endurance Championship, held over the weekend at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.

Having triumphed in the previous two meetings, Batelco Drag965 Racing lived up to their tag as favourites and claimed the number one spot after overcoming a strong field of international and local teams in the gruelling 24-hour challenge.

Pro karter Ramez Azzam spearheaded the Batelco Drag965 Racing team and shared duties in their RT8 Sodikart with Mohammed Mattar, Piers Walsh and Vincent Fraisse.

Azzam clocked the event’s overall fastest lap of one minute 12.080 seconds and his team’s victory made it a clean sweep for Batelco Racing in this year’s Championship.

Second place overall was Mahla BRM, featuring Mohamed Faqihi, Khaled Alsaei, Ali Baslar, Abdulla Buhindi and Hussain Hassan and third was EKT Portugal, comprising Ruben Conceicao, Bernardo Ferreira, Ruben Costa and Miguel Patricio.

The championship finale featured winners in four different race categories and along with their overall victory, Batelco Drag965 Racing clinched first place in the Professional Cup.

Taking second place behind them were Zain Dangerous with Duarte Lopes, Andre Cacido, Ali Al Mansoori and Ahmed Ebrahim. In third were Ice Racing, who featured Ahmed Al Kooheji, Ali Dadi, Mohammed Alwaary, Qamar Saleem and Louis Skalski.

Mahla BRM sealed victory in the Nations Cup to make their second appearance on a podium on the day. EKT Portugal were second and Zain Racing 1 third.

In the Corporate Cup, first place went to BBK Racing; with Faisal Al Shafei, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Nasser Al Alawi, Hamad Mattar, Ahmed Naqi and Khalifa Ghareeb, runner-up was Alkomed Racing with Bell Racing third.
