Bahrain public transport users reached a record
Manama, : The number of public transport users reached a record 52,000 passengers on March 4, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) has said.
Undersecretary of Land Transport and Post Affairs at MTT Mariam Ahmed Jumaan said that the average number of public bus users was 30,628 passengers in February, which is evidence of the increasing demand and use of the services provided by the Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC), the bus operator.
Since the launch of the new public transport service, the number of users has reached more than eight million commuters.
"Manama bus terminal has witnessed the highest demand, as it is the hub for 17 out of the 32 bus routes, with buses running from 5:00 am to 10:30pm, linking routes from the centre of Manama," she said.
The new smartcard service has also proved popular with public transport users due to its affordability and convenience for passengers who use the buses on a daily basis.
