Shaikh Khalid named AEF honorary chief
Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Vice-President of the International Equestrian Federation (Fédération Equestre Internationale, FEI) and President of the Seventh Arabian Group was elected as honorary president of the African Equestrian Federation (AEF).
The announcement was made at the constituent General Assembly of the AEF held at Sharm El Shaikh in Egypt, on the sidelines of El Salam International Showjumping Championships at the Concorde El Salam Courts last week.
The constituent General Assembly picked up Hesham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Egyptian Equestrian Federation, as the first president of the AEF.
Shaikh Khalid congratulated Hatab on this new post and wished him success in bringing up the standard of equestrian sports in Africa to higher standards, noting his next major task is to prepare a young team of equestrians for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Argentina.
