HR programmes helped citizens’ progress: PM

 Manama: Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said that all human resources programmes go hand in hand with the economic and social development programmes within an integrated development system that entitled the Kingdom to top human resources development reports for many years.

“The Kingdom’s vision in developing the human capital focused on upgrading the citizens in various aspects of life has enabled the citizens to increase their contributions to the development process,” HRH Premier remarked while accepting the “Excellence in Leadership Award 2016” bestowed upon him by the Geneva-based International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO) here yesterday.

The coveted honour was conferred on HRH Premier, the first world leader to win it, in recognition of dedicated role in achieving development and enhancing the performance of the human capital at the local and international levels.

In a ceremony held at Gudaibiya Palace, HRH the Prime Minister was presented with the certificate and shield of the “Excellence in Leadership Award 2016” by IFTDO Executive Board Chairman Dr. Nasser Al-Nafisee and Secretary-General Uddesh Kohli. Treasurer Dr. Bob Morton and the executive board members, who represent many countries across the world, were also present.

Prince Khalifa commented that the award proves anew the recognition of the specialised international organisations of the landmark human development success attained by the Kingdom during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era.

“Such successes are the outcomes of the tremendous efforts of Bahrainis. They have contributed to devising an advanced development approach that has gained regional and global respect,” HRH Premier added.

On the occasion, IFTDO Secretary-General Uddesh Kohli said the unanimous selection of HRH Premier for the award was approved during IFTDO’s Executive Board’s recent meeting in Malaysia.

He also lauded the numerous awards granted to HRH Premier by various UN agencies and organisations. “It sheds light on the Kingdom’s commitment to human resources development,” he added.
