Two women jailed for using fake credit cards

Manama: Two Malaysian women accused on grounds of fraud have been jailed for five years.

The duo is believed to have purchased luxury watches in Bahrain by using fake credit cards. Their crimes were reported to police by a credit card issuer in Bahrain, suggesting fraudulent operations were taking place.

The police planned an ambush, and both the women were nabbed eventually.

The first woman said that she had received 10 fake credit cards from a friend, who works in a bank in Malaysia, while the other suspect stated that her family gave her 14 credit cards.

According to the court documents, the pair tried to purchase watches worth BD7,000 in total. They also reportedly used the cards to settle room-booking fees.

The two women had been charged with fraud and using fake credit cards.
