Community outreach plan to be assessed

Manama: Secretary General of the Council of Representatives Abdulla Al Dosari, a member of the Bahraini Parliamentary delegation that is currently participating in the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly held in Zambia, stated the implementation of the “community outreach” strategy will be evaluated in order to be submitted at the Inter-Parliamentary Conference meetings in the next session.

Al Dosari said the “community outreach” project is a great initiative launched by Parliament Chairman Ahmed Al Mulla in February 2015 to strengthen community partnership and the implement the reform vision and push citizens to participate in making national decisions.

He pointed out that the community outreach committee was formed to include existing programmes and initiatives of institutional work. This helps citizens to contribute in parliamentary work through modern ways of communication.

Also, part of the project is Bahrain Parliamentary Training and Studies Centre, which offers all aspects of aid and assistance contributing to become the direct link between the Council, the MPs and the citizens.

During the IPU Assembly, the delegation stressed on support for youth participation and democracy, and the need for parliamentary activities for the category of young people and the dissemination of the parliamentary culture development.
