Future Foods, Four Seasons hold Inter-Barista

Manama : Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay held an inter-barista competition. The event was organised by Future Foods, headed by Jude O’Neil as the facilitator of the training and the competition. He was joined by George Safi, Food & Beverage Director of Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay and Alessandro De Luca, Export Quality Consultant for Illy as the judges of the competition.

The competition was participated by six aspiring baristas from different restaurants inside Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. Each contestant had to use their skills in making espresso, cappuccino with art and their original signature beverage. They were marked based on Illy Barista standard which mainly focused on the technical knowledge on how the coffee was prepared as well as the creativity, visual presentation and of course the taste.

“We are very proud that we had organised such barista trainings and competitions in Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. The hotel represents our brand and values which is why we are keen to provide training and assistance,” stated Abdulrahman Almoayed, Director of Future Foods.

“We are very thankful to Future Foods and Illy Cafe for their support in helping us organize this remarkable internal competition,” states George Safi, Director of Food and Beverage at the Hotel.

“All together three prizes were offered to the podium. The winner was lucky to win a trip to Italy including a four-day training in the Illy factory itself. Since some of the creations that were prepared at the competition are already featured on our Bay View Lounge menu, we are confident that our guests will benefit from this prestigious Illy competition too,” Almoayed added.
