No restrictions for travel to Brussels: Bahrain

Manama: Bahrainis will not be restricted from traveling to Brussels despite the terror attacks that shook the Belgian capital on Tuesday.

Bahrainis in Brussels are safe but they have been urged to exercise caution by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The UAE had warned Emirati nationals against travelling to Belgium. Speaking to DT News, a spokesperson of the Ministry confirmed that Bahrainis are safe in Brussels. “There are no Bahrainis among the victims. However, we urged caution among those who are residing there. Currently, there are no travel warnings, if anything changes we will notify,” he said.

“The embassy is taking measures to follow up with the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of Bahraini citizens after the explosions in Brussels,” MOFA stated on its Twitter account.

The Ministry has asked the concerned citizens to contact the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Brussels, telephone numbers: +32026270037 +32496758856.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had condemned the terrorist attacks in the airport and a metro station in Brussels, Belgium. In a statement issued here, the Ministry said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain for Belgium, in facing violence, extremism and terrorism whatever its source or motivation.”

“The Kingdom expresses its sincere condolences and sympathies to the families and relatives of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured in these treacherous terrorist acts that contravene religion principles and all ethic and human values,” the statement added.
