Bahrain Book Fair, cultural milestone

Manama : The 17th Bahrain International Book Fair opened today under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. 

HRH the Premier delegated Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa to inaugurate the 2016 edition of the exhibition. 
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) held a press conference to shed light on the book fair which represents a crossroad for cultures and civilizations. 

BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended the press conference along with Jordanian Minister of Culture Dr. Lana Mamkegh. 

BACA President welcomed Jordan as guest of honour of 17th Bahrain International Book Fair, haling deep-rooted relations binding the two countries. 

Dr. Lana Mamkegh hailed Bahrain’s cultural presence in the Arab World and commended BACA President for her dedicated efforts, urging the intellectual intelligentsia to elaborate a strong cultural discourse to deal with the current Arab situation. 

A total of 380 local and Arab publishing companies are showcasing their latest publications at the fair which features a rich Jordanian cultural programme, including music, poetry, cinema and forums that address key issues. 

Leading personalities and cultural works will be honoured through Bahrain Book Award, Mohammed Al-Banki Award for Cultural Personality of the Year and Bahrain Pearls’ Award.
