A Gulf national implicated in a set of fraud cases yesterday received another three years behind bars for deceiving an Asian national, taking his overall jail term to 35 years.

The victim reportedly didn’t know how to use his ATM card, and noticing him struggling with it, the accused came forward as if to help him.

"He offered to teach me how to use it, and I immediately accepted. He helped me withdraw the money, returned the card and left," the victim said in his statement.

"I later received a text message indicating BD270 was withdrawn from my account. I headed directly to the bank and the officials told me the debit card I was holding was not mine.

The accused image was caught in the CCTV camera installed in the ATM booth, and using this lead, police nabbed him.

The accused has previously defrauded several Asian nationals in the same method. The accused's total jail term could exceed 100 years, as he has so far been convicted in only 8 out of 27 cases he is implicated in.
