The High Criminal Court acquitted a 22-year-old man of assaulting a cop due to lack of proof. The officer claimed the suspect attacked him in the courts complex. According to court files the accused was being tried at the court and the officer was assigned to take him to and from the court.

The assault reportedly took place after the officer refused to let the suspect speak to some people in the courtroom after the trial.

"I refused and pulled him but then he forced me against the wall. I suffered mild injury to my back in the impact. He then told me he isn't scared of me," the officer told prosecutors.

However, judges at the High Criminal Court discarded the case, and termed the evidence "invalid” according to a court verdict.

"The evidences had been confined to the statements of the victim and his friend who learnt about it from the former. The medical report also indicate only abrasions in the victim's left hand,” the verdict read. "And based on these facts the High Criminal Court decided to acquit the accused," the court concluded.
