Shaikh Nasser inaugurates International Youth Conference

Manama : Around 1,600 participants representing 32 nations showed up at the opening ceremony of the 8th International Youth Conference held at the University of Bahrain (UoB) here yesterday.

The five-day event is held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who inaugurated the conference.

The conference comes under the slogan “Success before Thirty” and includes several workshops and sessions that discuss the means to achieve success in life and overcoming challenges at a young age.

Addressing the audience during the ceremony, HH Shaikh Nasser said, “Everyone is born with equal opportunities. It doesn’t matter which family you’re descending from or what high post you’re occupying. Success starts from within. We all have one of two choices. It’s either success or failure. Bravery, courage and daring to break the routine determine which path we’ll take in this life.”

Speaking at the packed auditorium, the event’s patroniser openly spoke about failing experiments in his life, adding that “one must utilise challenges and difficulties in life as a motivation to give more and achieve success.”

“Success tastes better after many attempts to accomplish it. In order to reach your goals, you must resist your inner battle. You must be clear about your vision and choose the appropriate environment that helps you succeed. Family, friend and associates are important to excel,” he added.

A number of Ministers, senior delegates, MPs, diplomatic corps, dignitaries and students attended the ceremony.

The conference will continue until Thursday and will include multiple workshops and activities that discuss achieving success before crossing the 30 years age barrier.
