Illegal Bahrain recruitment agency busted

Manama : An illegal recruitment agency in Philippines, which offered jobs in Bahrain, was reportedly shut down by the Philippines authorities.

The agency, Groselex Manpower Services, which recruited for posts such as quality inspector, civil inspector, equipment inspector training officer, was busted by the police in Philippines. Apart from Bahrain, the agents recruited people for Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (Jeddah), United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Qatar and Japan.

The agency was being run stealthily inside a cellphone accessory shop.

Groselex is not a registered agency to offer jobs abroad and interview workers for employment overseas before they are referred to licensed recruitment agencies. Groselex charged a P500 ‘initialising fee’, an undisclosed amount for training fee, and a placement fee of one month’s worth in salary deduction,” Filipino media agency Interaksyon reported.

“Let us remember that even if there is a licensed recruiter at the end of the process, the acts of offering a job, interviewing, or referring without a POEA licence is still illegal recruitment,” informed Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Administrator Hans Cacdac.
