Man jailed for insulting MP, husband on social media
Manama: A Bahraini man, who insulted an MP and her husband on WhatsApp, has been handed down a jail sentence of three months.
The 36-year-old defendant reportedly was a tenant in a building owned by the MP’s husband, but he failed to settle the rental fees for several months.
The MP’s husband is said to have requested him to pay the pending amounts after he vacated his apartment. However, the accused refused and when he made several requests, the defendant hurled abuses at him and his wife on WhatsApp. The Lower Criminal Court granted him BD200 bail, pending the outcome of his appeal.
