Bangladeshi killed in Bahrain received threats
Manama: The Bangladeshi man, who was murdered last Thursday, had received threats from his alleged killer on the eve of the crime, revealed a local lawyer.
The 44-year-old Bangladeshi man was killed in Riffa by a fellow countryman, aged 30.
Lawyer Manar Al Tamimi said, during her testimony before the Public Prosecution, that the accused and his mother embezzled BD2,000 from the victim, who paid the amount to them to buy a plot of land to make it a farm. “As he prepared to file a case against them, they threatened him,” according to Al Tamimi.
The 44-year-old was serving in a company belonging to one of the lawyer’s relatives. When the lawyer’s relative passed away, his work permit was then transferred to another employer.
“He came to me requesting to file a complaint against the defendant and his mother because they pocketed BD2,000 that he gave them as a down payment for the plot. He told me that he was afraid that they would leave Bahrain and he would lose his money,” the lawyer told the prosecutors yesterday.
“After a few days, he came to me again saying that he had received threats from them as they knew that he was planning to sue them. Next day, I learned that he was stabbed to death,” she added, confirming that she had received documents from him indicating that they had taken money from him.
