Roaming acts to add colour off the track at Bahrain GP

Manama: Roaming performers from all over the world have been signed up by Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) to help create a festive mood off the track at this weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (GP).

BIC, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, hosts motorsport’s top flight from April 1 to 3 in Sakhir.

This year’s cast of roaming artists includes Beastie Drummers, Danny Hang Player, Joey Albert, Mimo Dixie Band, Morf and Wojtek.

Over time, Beastie Drummers have created a unique musical style that blends traditional folk with a modern, dance twist. The instrumentation is likewise varied across cultures, with snares beside djembes, and samba shakers next to Turkish bass drums.

Daniel Waples, or Danny Hang Player, is a world-travelling musician. Living an independent life, he freely expresses himself, travels as he pleases, and plays to everyone and everywhere, sending a message of pure music and tranquillity.

From acrobatics to juggling and comedy, Joey Albert is a “Jack of all trades”. He has spent years perfecting his skills to perform only the best street entertainment for all ages.

Mimo Dixie Band is an innovative group, born from the combination between the dixieland musical style of the twenties, and miming gesture, circus arts and comedy. They dedicate themselves to one of the most ancient jazz styles.

Morf is a complete vocal looper. He uses nothing but his voice and an array of effect/loop units to create full songs live on the spot. He provides an interactive and fully enjoyable performance for audiences of all ages, showcasing what the human voice is really capable of.

Wojtek is a terrific musician who has played in festivals all over the world. He will now be bringing his style to the Bahrain Grand Prix, where he is sure to win over more fans.

Also among the roaming acts are circus professionals The Dapper Chaps, guitar duo The Mangore Duo, classical musician The Saw Guy and energetic street performer Spandy Andy.
