The dignity of Bahrainis is a priority to the Government, Minister of Information Affairs Isa Al Hammadi said yesterday.

While speaking in a press meet that followed the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, Mr. Al Hammadi referred to the incident of the three US marines who attacked an elderly taxi driver last week.

The minister asserted that the incident is being investigated by the Public Prosecution and ensured that “the law will take its course in this regard,” stressing that “strict legal measurements will be taken to protect both citizens and residents and to apply the law.”

“Citizens and residents’ dignity is our priority. All legal procedures have been taken in this regard. The case is with the Public Prosecution now and will be referred to courts for justice,” Mr. Al Hammadi added.

During the conference, the minister also noted the recent arrest of fourteen members of a terrorist group known as ‘Al Ashtar Brigades’. He commended the vigilance and professionalism of security authorities headed by Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

At the same time, Mr. Al Hammadi explained that “diplomatic communications are ongoing with the competent authorities there to follow up the matter,” in reference to Iraq, where the arrestees received military training in, according to their statements in the interrogation.

“There are international procedures followed in this regard,” he added.

As reported by DT News yesterday, Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa demanded neighbouring countries, including Iraq, to cease exporting terrorism to Bahrain.

He said, “Iraq, the country we are fighting abroad for, to help them against the Islamic State terrorism, we expect a serious stance from them against who is training and exporting terrorism into Bahrain.”
