Edna Sequeira bids farewell to Bahrain

Manama: Edna Sequeira, the longest serving expatriate staff of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is bidding farewell to the Kingdom after 50 years of meritorious service in in educational field.

Edna Sequeira has been serving as a teacher for more than five decades and has taught thousands of children around the world.

She is also well noted for her commendable community services in Bahrain.

On 1966 June 23, Sequeira came to Bahrain where her husband Anthony Sequeira was working in Bahrain Airport Services(BAS).

Sequeira joined the Indian School in 1967 as a teacher when the school started English medium division.

She hails from the Kannur district of the Indian state of Kerala.

Her children Deryl Sequeira and Sheryl Sequeira, who are settled in the US and Bangalore, India respectively, are former students of the ISB.

Sequeira is an active member of Sacred Heart Church Bahrain.

She will be in Bahrain till April 20 after which she will return to India to settle in Bangalore where her daughter lives with her family.

She received many recognitions for her exemplary service in Bahrain including the best teacher award instituted by P.V Radhakrishna Pillai when he was the chairman of the Indian School Bahrain during 2002-2008.

The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Ladies Wing had awarded her ‘Service Excellence Award’ when they marked the International Women's Day in March 2014 at a ceremony held at the BKS DJ Hall in Segayya.

ISB chairman Prince S Natarajan told DT News that the school will organise a farewell today (Wednesday) at 6pm to bid farewell to Madam Sequeira who has immensely contributed to the development of the school.
