Baku marshals boost for Bahrain F1 GP

Manamahighly-qualified team of marshals from Baku, Azerbaijan have touched down in Bahrain ahead of the 2016 Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix, which will be held from tomorrow until Sunday at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

Eighty marshals in total, led by Baku City Circuit Head of Operations Chingiz Mehdiyev, will be at the race venue to assist the Bahrain Marshals Club (BMC) in organising this year’s edition of Bahrain’s biggest sporting event.

They include Operations coordinator Yusif Nammadli, assistant clerk of the course Toghzul Abdullayev, Rashid Vatirov of Azerbaijan Automobile Federation and deputy chief medical officer Vagif Nabiyev.

The visiting delegation were greeted by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar in a meeting at its premises in Seef yesterday.

Askar welcomed the marshals team in Bahrain and thanked them for offering the BMC their expertise to make the F1 race this year a memorable one.

Mehdiyev thanked Bahrain for inviting them to be part of the Bahrain race this year and expressed pleasure for having 200 marshals from Bahrain set to organise the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in June.

Also attending the meeting from the Bahrain side were BMC President and Course Clerk Fayez Ramzy, along with Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) general secretary Rashed Al Zayani, BMF Manager Abdulaziz Al Thawadi, chief medical officer Dr Amjad Obaid and Emergency and Safety Coordinator Ayoob Al Salman.
