96pc medical staff recruited are Bahrainis
Manama : More than 96 per cent of the medical staff recruited by the Health Ministry in the past five years are Bahraini, the latest figures shared by the Ministry has revealed.
Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh stated that 2,123 Bahrainis were employed by the Ministry in the years 2011-2015, in comparison to 372 expats.
“The Ministry always gives priority to Bahraini candidates. Non-Bahrainis are mainly recruited in the rare specialisations, which usually lacks local candidacy,” the Minister said.
The Minister’s statements came within her reply to parliamentary queries of MP Adel Hameed on the numbers of medical cadres employed in the Ministry during the past five years.
Al Saleh will discuss before the 40-member parliament on Tuesday the regulations and procedures followed by the Ministry in recruiting medical staff and the fellow Government authorities involved in the process, such as the Civil Service Bureau and Labour and Social Development Ministry.
