Bahrain Pearl Award to be launched today

ManamaThe Bahrain Pearl Award will be launched today in tribute to late social work pioneer Shaikha Lulwa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The inauguration ceremony of the award will be held at the pavilion of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) at the 17th International Book
Fair. The award will acknowledge writers and researchers, who help developing communities through  their writings.

The prize will be awarded every two years on the sidelines of the Bahrain International Book Fair. 

The first award will be presented in 2018 with the completion of the Pearl Trail, which features on the UNESCO list of world heritage
sites. 

The 2016 Book Fair Award was bestowed on Hassan Abu Subaih while the Mohammed Al-Banki Cultural Personality of the Year 2016 award went to young Kuwaiti novelist Saud Al-San’usi.
