IHB in rejig mode in a bid to face financial issues
Manama : A restructuring is being done at the International Hospital of Bahrain (IHB) to resolve the long-standing financial issues at the hospital, said an IHB management official yesterday.
According to a senior Manager of IHB, the measures taken up by the management is expected to help the hospital resume normal service and settle the salary issues very soon.
“The hospital has successfully completed a full reorganisation over the last 12-18 months, and the financial restructuring is in progress, which will resolve the salary issue hopefully very soon. The management fully appreciate the strong support and loyalty of the vast majority of the staff, and the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, a source from the hospital said that many of the employees were depending on financial help from friends and family to pay the bills. “We are in a dire straits. Many staff members have resigned after losing hope of receiving salaries.”
When asked, the IHB spokesperson admitted that there were pending salaries. However, he reiterated that with the restructuring the issues would be resolved.
“All staff received salary last week, however 10 months’ salary remains pending. Partial payments over the last 10 months have also been made to many staff. The hospital is in direct contact with the Ministry of Labour and we greatly appreciate their support and guidance,” he added.
