The Lower Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a thief to three months behind bars. He was accused of robbing a mobile phone belonging to a patient admitted to the Salmaniya Medical Complex. "I left my Galaxy S4 phone at bed side and I slept. But when I woke up I found my cellphone missing, the victim said in his statement.

Police communicated with the competent authorities, who found out that the mobile phone was being used by someone. When the man was later summoned up by detectives, he claimed that he had bought it from a mobile shop selling second hand devices. "I bought the phone from a mobile shop. I don’t know from where the shop got it," the man said.

Meanwhile, the detectives learned that the convict had sold the phone in the shop after stealing it from the hospital.

The defendant was finally identified after police reviewed the CCTV camera footage of the shop. He, however, told prosecutors that he had seen the phone unattended in front of the hospital and denied robbing it.
