Minister reveals plans to develop Manama souq
Manama : Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani said the Ministry is currently working on preparation of blueprints to develop the exhibitions industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The blueprints are expected to be finalised before the end of the year and will be submitted to the Cabinet for its approval.
The Minister, in his reply to MP Mohsen Ali Al Bakry’s question regarding the plan for boosting the exhibitions industry, said the Ministry is currently working along with Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)’s Gold Market Committee to develop the current location of Manama souq as part of Manama Development project.
Al Zayani said the Ministry is constantly cooperating with the Capital Board of Trustees and BCCI to develop Manama souq project as per the directives of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Minister also responded to a question submitted by MP Abdulhameed Abdulhussain Ahmed regarding the role of the Ministry in supervision over commodity and foodstuff prices in commercial shops, establishments and companies.
He said that last year, the Ministry had received about 700 complaints and amicably solved 96 per cent of these complaints. This in itself was a plausible achievement in serving consumers’ interest and boosting awareness level, he stated.
