Kerry in Bahrain, to hold talks with leadership

ManamaThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, welcomed Secretary of State of United States John Kerry, upon his arrival to the Kingdom on an official visit. 

He is the first US secretary of state to visit Bahrain since Hillary Clinton in 2010.

During his visit, Kerry is scheduled to meet His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and first Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

He will also hold official talks with the Foreign Affairs Minister. 

Kerry will take part in the joint ministerial meeting with the GCC Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain.

He is expected to discuss human rights and regional conflicts ahead of a Gulf summit to be attended by President Barack Obama.

Kerry will also discuss “some of the critical regional issues, primarily Yemen, Syria, the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, and elsewhere in the region.”
