Smuggling drugs: Two men sentenced to life

ManamaThe High Criminal Court has sentenced two Pakistani men to life imprisonment for attempting to smuggle drugs into Bahrain. 

The first defendant was arrested at the Bahrain International Airport after he was found carrying drugs. 

A packet containing heroin weighing 944.3 grams was found hidden in his bag, and he admitted to the crime. 

He told the cops that he received the heroin from a person living in Pakistan, stating that he was supposed to deliver it to a man in Bahrain in exchange of around BD3,600. 

The police officers planned a sting operation against the second man, and he was arrested red-handed. He was nabbed trying to receive the bag from a police officer who wore the Pakistani traditional dress in order to deceive him.

Both of the defendants were ordered to be deported after they complete their jail time, which is equal to 25 years in prison each.
